You could qualify for a more affordable mortgage during long-term financial hardship through the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP).

The Home Affordable Modification Program will no longer be available with loan registrations after December 30, 2016.

HAMP changes the terms of your existing loan to lower your payments to 31% of your monthly pre-tax income.

If you qualify and get approved for HAMP, you'll start a 3-month trial period for making your new, lower mortgage payments. Once you've successfully completed the trial period, your mortgage will be permanently modified.

You could qualify for HAMP if:

  • You're facing long-term financial hardship

due for reasons such as divorce, reduced income, disability or serious illness.

  • You're behind on your mortgage payments or will be soon.
  • Your existing mortgage began on or before January 1, 2009.

Contact Citi and ask about HAMP.
Have the following information ready to help speed up the process:

  • Your mortgage statement and other loan information such as payments and balances of second mortgages, auto or student loans.
  • Copies of your 2 most recent pay stubs showing your year-to-date earnings.
  • Your most recent quarterly or year-to-date profit/loss statement, if you're self-employed or an independent contractor.
  • Your most recent personal checking, savings, money market, mutual funds, stock and bond statements.
  • Your most recent tax returns.
